> IMPORTANT NEWS:

“My child loves being at Launch. If I attempt to pick him up early, I have to come back at 6 p.m. When a child asks to stay at Launch instead of returning home to his toys and video games, I know he is comfortable at Launch and enjoys the programs.”

We provide before and after school programs for children in grades K–5 and full-time enrichment programs during school breaks. We are open Monday through Friday, with morning programs starting at 7:00 a.m. and afternoon programs ending at 6:00 p.m. During the pandemic, our hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Our program includes homework time, virtual field trips, enrichment activities, and outdoor play.

Our schedule allows time each day for nutritious snacks, academic work, outdoor play, and engaging enrichment activities. The school year focuses on building strong teacher-child relationships as well as the child’s academic, emotional, and life skills. We offer each child a safe physical and emotional space to help them develop a grounded and strong sense of self.

Launch teachers collaborate with one another as well as with public school teachers to create lesson plans that maximize enrichment learning. We incorporate teacher feedback and observations to identify student needs and plan activities with specific learning objectives that support each child while remaining fun and inclusive for everyone.

Here is a sample of a typical day in our before and after school programs:

  • The before school program for children grades K–5 runs from 7:00 a.m. until the starting bell for school. We serve a healthy, family-style breakfast where children come together to share and communicate. After breakfast, we provide a variety of activities that meet each child’s individual needs and help prepare them for the day ahead. This may include anything from a quiet reflective activity to a physical group activity. We also provide additional homework support for students who need extra time to finish that last bit of schoolwork.
  • The after-school program runs from school dismissal time until 6:00 p.m. Our program divides children up into micro-groups based on each child’s developmental level. This allows us to be intentional about our academic support and enrichment-activity planning.

When children arrive at Launch after school, they meet with their group for community-building and discussion about the afternoon activities. This allows the children to feel included in their afternoon schedule and participate in “voice and choice.”

In their micro-groups, children engage in activities tailored to their individual needs, cooperative group learning, and child-directed activities. Toward the end of our formal activity period, the micro-groups come together for a whole group reflection. Children also have daily time for outdoor play, sports, arts, and free choice. We provide a nutritious, family-style meal after school as well as a late afternoon snack.

During school breaks and on school in-service days, we offer full-day care from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The structure and schedule of activities mimic our summer program. We also offer families the opportunity to have their child engage in an academic learning environment while on a school break to ensure there is no disruption in a child’s academic progress.
