Winter is coming! The Seattle area weather forecast shows the possibility of snow and ice in our region. In the event of inclement weather, Launch will remain open during normal business hours when at all possible. We consider personal safety when determining hazardous weather actions. Not all schools may be impacted by program closures.
We follow the decision of Seattle Public Schools in regards to extreme weather conditions. If your school opens one or two hours late, Launch will open one or two hours late. If your school closes early, Launch will close early as well. If SPS chooses to not open at all for the day, Launch will be closed all day.
For closures on days when school is not in session, we will make a determination regarding a closure as early as 8:00 p.m. the night before and no later than 5 a.m. the day of the closure on inclement weather days, and we will start publicizing the information at that time. Please note we will not send messages if there is no effect to your school campus and NOT all schools may be impacted on any given day.
If conditions suggest the need for a possible closure or schedule adjustment, leadership will look at school and area street conditions as well as transit issues. This information, along with weather forecasts and other available information will be used to make a determination about whether to close the program or adjust our hours.
If weather conditions deteriorate overnight, a decision will be made no later than 5 a.m. on whether the program will be closed or have adjusted hours (i.e., late-start). If a storm occurs during the regular program day, a decision on whether to close Launch programs will be made as soon as feasible.
Please remember that as per Launch tuition policy, account credits or refunds are not given for sick days, snow days, natural disasters or other unscheduled absences. (This includes other weather related closures and closures required by licensing regulations such as power outages, plumbing failures, etc.)
You may check for information on program closures or adjusted hours in several ways:
Because of circumstances such as loss of electrical power, not all of these lines of communication may be available in every emergency situation. If you have any questions, please contact your Program Director.
